Lightweight insulating mullite bricks and lightweight insulating clay bricks belong to the same light-weight thermal insulation refractory bricks. What is the difference between mullite light-weight bricks and clay light-weight bricks? The difference of these two bricks are in raw material production, operating temperature, application, performance, indications and price.
1. The difference in raw material production
Lightweight mullite bricks are made of high-purity refractory powder as refractory raw materials, which are sintered at a high temperature after special process proportioning to produce lightweight refractory bricks with mullite phase. Aluminum content is between 50-80%.
Lightweight clay bricks are made of refractory clay through a certain process ratio and sintered at a temperature of 1000°C. The aluminum content is between 30-35%.
2.the difference in operating temperature
Lightweight mullite bricks have a mullite phase, and their service temperature is about 1500°C; they can be directly exposed to flames. Has good thermal shock stability. And low thermal conductivity, low heat capacity.
Lightweight clay bricks cannot be directly used as linings on the flame surface, and are generally used in conjunction with aluminum silicate wool and heavy refractory bricks. The use temperature of lightweight clay refractory bricks should not be greater than 1000 degrees.
3.Application difference Lightweight clay bricks are generally used in the thermal insulation layer or permanent layer of industrial kilns, and do not contact with slag or molten materials. If the temperature is in contact with the molten material, the temperature shall not be higher than 1000°C.
4. the same proportion
The specific gravity of light mullite bricks and light clay bricks is the same, both are 0.6. 0.8, 1.0, 1.2.
5. performance difference
From the performance point of view, the high-temperature volume of light-weight mullite bricks is more stable, which is better than that of light-weight clay bricks.
6. the difference between indicators
In terms of indicators, light mullite bricks and light clay bricks with the same bulk density, mullite bricks are higher in aluminum content and service temperature than light clay bricks, and other performance indicators are different.
7. price difference
In terms of price, the price of lightweight mullite bricks is much higher than that of lightweight clay bricks.
In short, whether it is light mullite or light clay brick, it should be selected according to different parts and different use temperatures.
